January 20-22, 2023
Encounter Backpacking in January 2023 was amazing! This year we hiked 8 miles of the Cross Timbers Hiking Trail on the southern shore of Lake Texoma. Our group was surprised to find such a great trail with varied terrain, secluded forest, and scenic lakeside overlooks within an hour and a half of Dallas, TX! January temps were mild - daytime highs in the low-60s and nighttime lows in the mid-30s.
What is Encounter Backpacking?
More than just a backpacking trip, Encounter Backpacking offers a weekend out of the city, seeking the Lord in the beauty of nature. For men and women age 16 and older, this hike is suited for beginner to intermediate backpackers. Never backpacked before? No worries - you'll benefit from a backpacking clinic before the trip and guidance along the way. Hikers will enjoy guided times of silence, prayer, Scripture, meditation and reflection, journaling, and great fellowship around the fire!
$20 Registration Fee. Participants provide their own food and equipment.
